What Are Miniature Horses
People hear about horses all of the time, but one kind of horse that
you may not hear a lot about is the Miniature. Miniature horses are
horses that are only about 34 inches tall. To be a Miniature horse, it
has to be under 38 inches tall. They are called horses, because they
keep a lot of horse characteristics. However, it is important to note
that these horses are even smaller than a very small pony. In fact, a
lot of them look like fat baby horses. Either way, these are horses
that work well with people. Today we are going to talk more about these
Miniatures and what they can be used for. They are too small to ride,
thus, there are other things that they have to be used for. In fact,
there are two main things that people use Miniatures for, and those are
for companionship and assistance animals.
One of the main things that people use Miniature horses for is for
assistance. A lot of people have heard of seeing eye dogs, but have you
ever hear of seeing eye ponies? Well, this is what they are called!
These Miniature horses can actually be uses as seeing eye animals for
people. They are very smart and very easy to train. The great thing
about these horses is that they are so small that you can train them to
live both outdoors and indoors. In fact, most Miniatures are smaller
than a large dog, although they tend to lay more. Of course, it is
important to keep in mind that a Miniature is horse that needs human
interaction. This is one of those kinds of horses that loves to work
with humans. They like the interaction, and they love to be loved on
much like a dog would like being loved on. These animals are not too
fast and are usually slower than dogs. So why would you choose a seeing
eye pony over a dog? Well, this is because of the life span of a horse.
Miniatures can live as long as 25 to 35 years. Most of them live about
30, thus, you will have to get less seeing eye ponies than you would
dogs.
The other reason why people like to get Miniatures is to keep them as
family pets. However, you do have to remember that they do keep a lot
of their horse behaviors, and you have to remember that. If you are
going to keep one of these horses as a pet, it is a very good idea to
actually have a big yard for them to run around in. These horses do
love people and will wonder off to go see people who walk by your
house. Thus, the yard that you do keep them in has to have some kind of
fence around it. This will keep the horse from leaving your yard and
going over to other peoples' houses, which can scare people sometimes.
Not everyone is used to walking outside and seeing a Miniature horse.
Either way, you can not go wrong with a Miniature as a family pet.
