The Trakehner Horse
A lot of people know that the Trakehner is a breed of horse. In fact, it is a warmblood type of horse. However, most people notice that this is a much lighter type of warmblood than other horses that you might find. The Trakehners actually get their name from Trakehnen. This is the site of the Main Stud in Prussia. These horses can vary in size a lot. In fact, they can be anywhere form 15.2 hands to 17 hands high! However, finding one that is actually 17 hands high does not happen very often because of their light build. Not only do they come in a lot of different sizes, but they come in a lot of different colors as well. The most common is, of course, the black color. Of course, some people have seen bay and chestnut colors as well. Although a few people have said that they have seen gray Trakehner horses, it is more than likely one of the rarest colors to find one of these horses in.
So, yes, the Trakehner is the lightest and most refined type of warmbloods that you can get. However, that is not the only thing that you are going to want to know about their build. In fact, Trakehners actually have a rectangular build to them. Despite their funny build, they are very athletic horses, which is a good thing, because that is the main reason why people choose to get these horses anyway. People have also noted on many documents that they are very trainable as well. You should have no problems getting this horse to do what you want it to do. Of course, it depends on the person who is training it. If it is being trained by a person that has never trained horses before, then yes, it could still be a little hard. However, for anyone that has trained horses before, then training Trakehner horses will be a walk in the park.
To top off all of these nice things about Trakehners, we must talk about their great endurance as well. This makes them great horses for endurance riding. Most people talk about this horse as being very spirited, meaning that it does not like to give up. Whenever it sets out to do something, there is a good chance that the horse is going to finish it. However, the last thing that you have to know about these horses is that they an cost a lot of money. True to type, these kinds of horses are needed when upgrading other warmblood breeds. Thus, these horses usually sell for a lot of money, meaning that for some people who want one of these horses, it could be hard to get one. Of course, that should not stop you from trying. There are some places out there that will give a good deal on these kinds of horses. It will be up to you to make sure that you do the research on the horse that you need to do. You have to be able to read the pattern on the horse to see if its really a Trakehners horse.
